What’s the problem?

Lids and caps are too small to be effectively recovered through your household recycling, and end up in landfill or as litter.

Sustainable Coastlines data shows 12,500 plastic lids and caps per annum and 1,200 metal lids and caps.

 What are we doing?

Good Caps is running a pilot programme in 12 schools in the Hawkes Bay region. These schools are participating in a competition to collect the most metal and plastic caps. By keeping these from going to landfill, we can then recycle them into new products!

How does it work?

Step 1: Each school receives a kit

Step 2: Students will get take-home bags to fill with metal and plastic caps and lids

Step 3: Bring filled bags to school and empty into allocated recycling boxes. Take bags home and fill again.

Step 4: We collect the lids and caps to be reprocessed so they can be made into something new

Are there prizes?

Each school that participates will receive a donation.

The top three winning schools will recieve Nanogirl Professional Development and Live Shows!

We wouldn’t be able to do this without our incredible partners…
